3 Hour Introduction to Glass Beadmaking
with Julia Spall
A 3 hour session of one-to-one tuition, £60. Phone or e-mail me to arrange an appointment.
In a few of hours of one-to-one tuition I will show you the fundamental skills of this fascinating and beautiful craft. After a safety induction you will quickly be making your own glass beads by melting coloured rods of glass in an open flame, using a technique called 'lampworking'. In this 3 hour session I will demonstrate some techniques that you will then go on to practice. Depending on your progress you could make up to 5 or 6 beads. I will show you how to form a basic bead, and then add embellishments such as dots and stripes.
The sessions are one-to-one and include use of all tools and materials.
The beads will then be kiln annealed ( held at a particular temperature to reduce internal strain in the glass and make them very durable) They will be posted to you free of charge. They will also include the demonstration beads that I make on the day.
Aprons and protective glasses are provided. Wear clothes you feel comfortable working in, and if you have long hair please tie it back.
Please call or e-mail Julia to arrange a booking, or for more information.
I can make your selection of beads into an adjustable bracelet at no extra cost
